

This content was created by Jake Bramante of Hike 734. This is a steep descent that can be a challenging addition. Most visitors head back from this overlook, but the trail does continue downward for an additional 1.2 miles to the north side of Hidden Lake. The trail starts out crossing a grassy meadow followed by an equally grassy hillside with very pleasant views to the south and west. The trailhead is actually 80 feet higher than the lake and yes, there is a bit of elevation gain and loss, but it is a rather easy hike. From here, there is also a great view into Sperry Glacier basin. The hike to Hidden Lake is approximately 2.5 miles. The trail is actually on a boardwalk to protect the alpine. There are a couple of pathways, but the trail to the Hidden Lake Overlook is pretty obvious. The trail starts from the top of Logan Pass at the Visitor’s Center which is always very busy. After 1.4 miles, Hidden Lake becomes visible down below at overlook with an interpretive sign. The Hidden Lake Overlook trail located in Glacier National Park is a great family-friendly hike. Trail Distance: 2.7-mile round trip (Out and Back Trail) Starting Elevation: 6,646 feet. It helps to have a hiking pole or walking stick to be able to navigate the step height.įrom here, the trail continues on dirt, climbing over Hidden Pass where you can often spot mountain goats. Hidden Lake Trail Details: Elevation Gain: 540 feet. Hidden Lake itself is a fantastic spot to spend the day fishing and relaxing in the beautiful Utah wilderness. This trail is in the very popular Lake Country of the Uintas, but compared to the surrounding routes, this trail sees little traffic. The hike to Ice Lakes begins from the South Mineral Campground in the San Juan National Forest near Silverton, Colorado. This area is one of the most highly frequented destinations in the park, so head out in the early morning to beat the rush. This gorgeous footpath features not one but two amazing glacial lakes, mountain views, and a hypnotic waterfall. The crown jewel of Going-to-the-Sun Road is Logan Pass, and this is where the Hidden Lake Trail starts. They aren't difficult in and of themselves, but were not built at a height to be a simple step for someone shorter than 64 inches. The hike Hidden Lake via Duck Lake Trail 210 is a great route in the western Uintas. Explore the base of the jagged Teton Mountains as you wander the Hidden Falls via String Lake Trail.

The boardwalk heads up turning into stairs that lead toward the glacial moraine that was formed by the glacier that used to sit at the bottom of Clements Mountain. To start this hike, head out on the Hidden Lake Trail past the visitor center that starts as asphalt and quickly turns into a raised boardwalk. Hidden Lake Trail follows the forested ridge east of Zigzag Canyon, climbing almost 2800 to reach the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail 2000 in approx.
